Program Guide

WBRS brings you...

All the News

...that's fit to hear.

Greg Cohen and Tracy Savy bring you
what you won't hear on the airwaves.

"Hi!" from the WBRS News department. First, take a second to think about the following mind-boggling questions: Do you hate worrying about spelling and grammar when you're writing? Do you hate the pressure of handing in assignments on time? Are you sick of the same old headline/article format for writing news? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, then WBRS News is definitely for you!

Chances are you've heard a radio news broadcast at least once in your lifetime. You have to admit that it's a lot more interesting than reading a boring, ol' newspaper. That's the big advantage radio news has over a written format. You get the late breaking stories as they happen, not after the fact.

Here at the WBRS News Department, we cover a wide range of topics that are of interest to the entire community. We feature not just Brandeis news, but local, national and international news as well. We give you the weather, financial news, commentaries and sports,(see the Sports article for more information). All of this information is jam-packed into Datebook, our half-hour show, which airs Monday through Thursday from 6:30 - 7:00 pm.

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! From 7pm - 8pm, WBRS News airs a unique selection of informational programming. Arts Corner reports on the arts and entertainment scenes not only on the Brandeis campus, but in the greater Boston area, while On Campus, a one-on-one interview, call in show, features an important member of the Brandeis administration each week. The entire 90 minutes is NewsTalk :90.

As you can see, the WBRS News Department is an awesome organization in which to become involved. This year, we will have access to a satellite dish above our studios, which will give us access to a myriad of news and information for the shows' production. We're currently looking for anyone interested in writing and reporting news, or writing commentaries for the show. If you're interested, give us a call in the Newsroom at 736-4788 for more information. If not interested, be sure to have your radio tuned to 100.1 FM from 6:30-8:00pm, Monday through Thursday, for NewsTalk :90 -- "It's your FM connection to Brandeis . . . and the world."
