MLB Awards

Yesterday we all heard about Dustin Pedroia winning the AL Rookie of the Year, which was a no brainer to most people. However, the more controversial voting lied the NL ROY race where Ryan Bran edged Troy Tulowitzki. The numbers are similar, though Tulo played in 40 more games than Braun. Nobody argues that Bruan posted some great offensive numbers, but he also had 26 errors at 3rd base in less than 115 games, while Troy Tulowitzki posted the best fielding percentage ever by a rookie shortstop.

Personally, I think the right calls were made since 34 home runs is a big number by a rookie. Sure it's not all about offense, but that's what fans look at.

Additionally, today we learned that CC Sabathia beat out Josh Beckett for the AL Cy Young race. Clearly, if the postseason counted towards the Cy Young race, Beckett would have won because he was amazing and the playoffs and CC was garbage. In fact, C.C. Sabathia is garbage. He's fat slob who's numbers weren't much better than Josh Beckett's numbers.

Josh Beckett should have won the Cy Young because he once said this:
"Well, if frogs had wings they wouldn't bump their butts when they hop."

Sounds like a spoiled bostonian to me. Look, you won the world series, have one of the best nfl teams ever (possibly), and the best team in the eastern conference in the nba - let another city win something.

Plus CC's numbers were better, esp in innings. And when u compare his numbers to other lefty starters historically, its one of the best in a long long time.

Steve...

Look at the last lines of this post...

Do you see some humor there?

Also, if I ask you right now, who is the best pitcher in the American League - What would your answer be: CC Sabathia or Josh Beckett?

Looking at the numbers again, CC had the better regular season, but this year's playoffs show exactly why regular season numbers don't necessarily mean much.

As far as the comment about CC's numbers being great for lefties... that is irrelevant to the Cy Young voting.

Also, the other sports don't matter. Boston the best in all sports that aren't hockey. Deal with it Mr. New Yorker.

I would have given it to Troy and Beckett.

Huh? Sample Size.

Also, Tulo's defense earns him the ROY in my book. Braun's F% was one of the worst in over a century. The fact that Tulo was still above average with his bat means he was a much more valuable member of the Rockies than Braun was for the Brewers.
