Vlade Is Crafty On and Off The Court

Flope Divac was the King of the Flop. He was an innovator when it came to taking phantom fouls. I wish there were some statistic that calculated flops per game because Vlade would barely edge out Raja Bell as the most prolific of all-time.

Anyways, Vlade is presently accused of doing an off-the-court flop of sorts, as he is being sued for allegedly selling counterfeit Gucci and Fendi products out of his L'Image Beauty Boutique, a store owned by Vlade and his wife, in Sacramento.

The suit claims that the store - which advertises on its Web site that it sells "high-end skin care lines," "celebrity must-haves" and "treasures, which until now have only been found in Europe, New York and Los Angeles" - was knowingly selling counterfeit products it purchased from a disreputable dealer and sold at exorbitant markups to unsuspecting customers.

At first I took this story with a grain of salt, assuming that this was just another erroneous, untrue lawsuit. But apparently Vlade's store has a past of selling fradulent products.

The suit follows a federal lawsuit filed last year by Gucci against L'Image that claimed the store was selling fake Gucci items. That case is pending in U.S. District Court in Sacramento.

I was rather stunned when I found out about this story. I assume Vlade isn't ignorant about the fact that these kind of actions are illegal in the United States, so he either has no regard for the law or he is in some sort of dire financial state. Considering the fact that Vlade earned over $80 million in his playing days, I assume he just doesn't care that he's breaking the law.

Hopefully this kind of reckless entrepreneurial decision-making doesn't progress much further. If it does though, Vlade can always just flee the country. I'm pretty sure there is still a spot in the Serbia & Montenegro army reserved for him.

why the spiteful tone in the post? i doubt vlade handles all the buisness decisions in this store, especially since he doesnt live in the united states anymore...its not like this is even the only buisness he owns, anyway. you're way off base here...

i think maybe you need to stick to things you know about rather than spewing off random shit that pops into your head.

Anonymous, you are telling me that Vlade Divac isn't aware of the fact that a store he owns exclusively sells fake merchandise as opposed to authentic ones? You can't be serious.

As a fellow Serb, I'm not surprised by this at all, as this kind of shady stuff happens all the time in boutiques in Belgrade and elsewhere. Of course, the consumers are more aware of it and are not easily scammed, so the knockoffs usually end up at lower-end stores. There's no doubt Divac knew exactly what he was doing, and I'm sure he's already made enough profits from this to cover his legal costs for this.

OH THEY KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING!divac purchased the items from a KNOWN counterfeiter named city moda from los angeles. the items were bought at $50 a bag and resold at 900 a bag at the store.city moda sold the same bag for 129 dollars on their website and divac sold it for 900? sure they didnt know. nice landrover divac...your welcome. the district attorney fraud division told them to stop selling the items after multiple complaints and a controlled under cover buy and two months later they did another undercover buy. they kept selling the fake products. they sold 100k worth of fake crap out of the store and they said they didnt know. why do you think they moved to Spain. they are avoiding prosecution. more to come on this one. Flop out of this one big guy.

Hey Keyboard Commando !

Lots of anger for Vlade, eh ?
Feel the rage !

Phantom fouls ?
You mean when Shaq would just bulldoze over him, because Shaq has no shot other than a dunk ?

Vlade OWNS the store---he doesn't manage it.

Vlade owns numerous businesses in California, as well as in a few countries in Europe.

He's not running the day-to-day operations, and your commenter who claims to be a "Serb" doesn't have any more insight into the operation of the business than someone living in Timbuktu.
