ESPN Gives Free Insider to Disgruntled Fantasy Baseballers
I'm sure most of you are aware of the ESPN Fantasy Baseball situation. If not, Deadspin can fill you in. However, in order to compensate infuriated fantasy baseballers who have lost the first two weeks of the fantasy baseball season, ESPN is allocating 6 free months of ESPN Insider to already current subscribers who also signed up to play fantasy baseball this season with ESPN.
ESPN announced this through an e-mail that I (as well as every other current ESPN Insider subscriber who has an ESPN fantasy team) received last evening.
This is an act of desperation by ESPN, one motivated not to save face, but to keep all ESPN leagues from moving to Yahoo or CBS Sportsline.
So what am I doing? Accepting ESPN's free 6 month extension on my Insider account...and then moving to Yahoo for my fantasy league anyways.
Here is the e-mail I received from ESPN:
Dear ESPN Fantasy Baseball Player,
As a current Insider, we want you to know that we value you as a fan of ESPN and are committed to providing you the best fantasy baseball experience possible. We apologize for the problems you have experienced with Fantasy Baseball and hope that you will take full advantage of our offer to receive six (6) additional months of Insider for free.
To activate this offer, please click on the link below. When your current subscription is up you'll still have six more months to enjoy Insider - and all the predictive expert analysis and content you have come to value - for free.

We thank you for your patience as we resolved the issues with our fantasy game. If you have any questions about this offer or about the problems at the start of the fantasy baseball season, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service center at 1-888-549-ESPN or baseball@fantasygames.go.com, or check out our FAQs.
Sincerely,
The ESPN.com Fantasy Team
