The Oscar's - The Departed

I actualy happened to see The Departed for the first time this past Saturday evening. I thought it was fantastic and I'm very pleased that it won Best Picture last night and Scorsese won Best Director. A college basketball post coming later this evening...

Until then, Free Medium Curly Fries @ Arby's Today...Enjoy that. :)

I've seen at least three Scorcese movies that were better. Weak field this year, I guess, or lifetime achievement Oscar. Scorcese's one of the best--I'm just a bit surprised that THIS is the movie that gets him the award.

...ain't that always the way in the Oscars though i.e. you miss out on one when you're brilliant only to be awarded one for a lesser performance?

I haven't seen this movie but I've heard some great reviews and I'm looking forward to it.

Wait a minute, why are we discussing the Oscars?!

I thought The Departed was amazing, and definitely deserved all the awards it got.

The Departed was not Martin's best movie by a long shot, and he got his Oscar more as a sign of respect.

This thing was a waste of two hours of my life. The characters were cartoonish - Jack Nicholson played the same guy he has in 20 other movies, Matt Damon played the same character in Good Will Hunting with more 'fuck this', 'fuck' that', go pahk the fuckin' cah and get me some fuckin' mahs bahs'. de Caprio looked like the only person who wasn't walking through his role.

For an action movie, it was boring, predictable, cliched writing. It could have ended 20 minutes earlier and it would have been a relief.

hated it so much i quit with 10 minutes left because I couldn't take any more.

It got the Oscar because it had a crapload of big names, not because it was good.

I disagree. I did a damn good job.
