Video of The Unnecessary Tony Allen Injury

(Make sure to turn up the sound to hear and see how late Tony Allen makes his move after the whistle is blown)

Well if you haven't seen the Tony Allen injury please watch the clip above. Allen tore his ACL and will be out of action for at least six months as a result of the injury. But the crazy thing about it is that Allen's injury was maybe as unncessary as Bill Gramatica's famous celebration injury.

The whistle is clearly blown before Allen makes his move, but decides "what the heck?" I'll dunk it. And with that obviously uneccessary play, Allen's season is over. But then again maybe delayed dunks three seconds after the whistle is blown are necessary in Boston...the fans need something to cheer about.

The Sixers and Celtics are in the "Let's Bomb the Season To Get Greg Oden" Race. Thanks for the comments on my blog. Your site makes me miss my college radio days (well, from last year).

Wow... though it's hard to fault him too much... I've seen players dunk like that after the whistle all the time. Just a terrible result for him.

Thats a weird one. I can't see exactly where he injures it like you usually can.

But hey, I guess the rolling around on the floor in agony makes it pretty obvious doesn't it?

Well what else could you expect from an Oklahoma State Cowboy? In all seriousness, that is a shame that it happened to him, but he needs to be smarter next time. Wow, what a terrible way to go down.

What a silly injury. Bad luck I call it. Many players do a little show off move after the whistle. This one got the better of him.

I think it's actually worse than the Grammatica injury. grammatica was just celebrating. Allen's as you wrote was unnecessary.

It's a shame.

Thats what he gets for being an idiot. He hopefully learned his lesson. And Marco don't forget the Hawks in the "let's bob the season to get Greg Oden" race.

Charles Barkley said the Hawks would be good this year. I thought he knew everything.
