The United States has a
big game ahead of themselves this morning, as they take on Ghana. And yes, America cares about soccer! And if the U.S. can defeat Ghana, and
get the help needed from Italy, than America can advance in the World Cup! Yet if America loses than it is only inevitable that nobody in this country will care again about soccer for 4 more years. If we do win, hopefully I can get Easy E (or one of the other four people in this country that is a soccer expert) to write up some sort of analysis of the game, as well as a prediction in regard to our chances vs. Brazil. If we lose, or Italy does not defeat the Czech Republic, than soccer will most likely not be mentioned on this blog again. Go Team USA!

I don't get off of work until 5 pm, so if anyone actually checks this blog before then, if you want to leave a comment saying the results of the match that would be cool. Go USA!
Well Team USA lost and for the time being baseball is the only sport going on...the NBA draft is soon though.
Well now Freddy Adu just claimed on PTI that he is unsure as to whether he will play for the US or for Ghana in 2010. That hurts a lot if he decides to play for Ghana, cause he certainly has the potential to be a key component to the future of US soccer.
Who choked more? The Mavs or Team USA...it is close but I will go with Team USA. Dallas did have to go up against the Diesel and D-Wade. Team USA was the 5th ranked team going into this thing and they really blew it.
If you go by FIFA rankings of soccer teams, then you have no idea of how soccer works. Yes, the US could've put up more of a fight against the Czech Republic, didn't seem to play with much passion against Ghana and made countless tactical errors, but they were very lucky to even be in a situation where they could advance. Most pundits had them last in their group. The biggest chokers in the group were the Czechs who were favored to make it to the semis and didn't even advance. Plus, how can you feel bad for Ghana. A tiny little African country up against the big guys (plus it's great if you watch their games on television and Ghana wins; in Spanish it's "Ghana gano").
Lastly, no chance Adu plays for Ghana. The difference in endorsement money playing for the US vs playing for Ghana is astronomical. I'll bet all of my earthly posessions that Adu never puts on a Ghana jersey.
I agree with you he has to play for the US...I think Nike will kill him if he doesn't! Yes, the FIFA rankings are flawed but in the US' defense, they were placed in an extremely tough group. Also, if you are Jewish or pro-Israel, you have to like the fact that one of the Ghana players busted out an Israeli flag from his pants after he scored a goal vs the Czech. Here is the story on that:
